Once Upon a Trilogy ®

Three-day course:
Day one: Once Upon an Archetype
Day two: Once Upon a Metaphor
Day three: Once Upon an Anti-Hero

Within this three-day course we explore Archetypal Energy, Metaphor and Anti Heroes and the way they can present within our clients play. Have you ever wondered about the repetitive play of your clients? The same characters being used? The same themes coming up week after week? What processes are happening? How can you become involved? When should you join in or be a silent witness?

This course will enable you to gain a deeper understanding of how Archetypes, metaphor and Anti-heroes become powerful concepts within your client work. When you are the observer of your client play, watching a play narrative unfold this course will help you to consider these concepts to gain a deeper understanding of your client’s process and the transference which arises.

Something to ponder on...

Safe space!

What is a safe space? A space which makes you feel safe regardless of if you feel happy, sad, worried, angry…. A space which is comfortable, holding and nurturing, where you can be yourself with yourself. A safe space does not need to be a physical space, it can be an imaginary place, a place in a different time. A safe place can be a connection we have with someone or something.

Life is often busy, full on and at times overwhelming, having a safe space can be a form of self-care where you can retreat to or be with.

Do our clients have a safe space? How often do we ask our clients if they have a safe space? It is very important for our clients to have a safe space, helping clients to find or identify their safe space should be part of the work we do. Every child should have a place of safety to return to, if this cannot be a physical safe a metaphorical safe space can also provide a calm and nurturing alternative.

One of my grandchildren has their own imaginary world, they can control who is in it and who is not permitted to enter. They pretend to morph into their world and morph out of it. This imaginary world is full of all the things they like such as dragons, fluffy the three headed dog, a character from their favourite programme and of course cake! This safe space gives them the opportunity to escape the business of life, an imaginary place that is theirs alone.

Where is your safe place? What does it look like? What does it feel like? If you do not have a safe place where or what would it be?
