The Team
We all have our own personal journeys which brought us together and we share common interests but above all we all have a vision for making a difference by supporting mental health and well-being. We have formed a strong and dedicated team and we recognise each other’s strengths and support each other so that we can make a difference.
We are driven through our experiences of supporting the mental health and well-being of our clients. Furthermore our aim is to provide knowledge and skills to empower those working with children, young people and parents to develop the skills required to make a positive difference and increase life chances. Alun, Eileen and Jill, have set up and are co-directors of the School of Play and Creative Therapies.
Where we began
As both friends and colleagues our collaboration was quite organic. We have been engaged in training and running events together for the last five years. Through this we recognised our mutual passion in bringing high quality training to those with an interest in supporting children and young people’s mental health. In conclusion, starting this new venture was a natural progression for us as we strive to help people fulfil their potential.

Alun John
Director
Alun has vast experience working with children and young people. For many years he was a professional actor and worked in theatre in education where he not only performed but taught drama workshops for children and young people. Later he trained as a teacher and qualified with a B.Ed. As a teacher he worked with primary children prior to working with 14 – 16 year olds in a pupil referral unit (PRU). It was here that Alun first worked with young people who had experienced trauma. Having left the PRU Alun was recruited to manage the children and youth work programmes for a local charity. As a result of funding cuts, Alun chose to train as play therapist. He became an accredited play therapist and clinical supervisor. Alun became the Welsh coordinator and then Clinical Director of Catchpoint, a therapeutic organisation based in Bristol, the S. West and S. Wales. He led a team of therapists that worked exclusively with looked after children who had experienced complex trauma. Alun is now an adult educator with both national and international experience. He has been able to use his varied experiences to find a unique way of communicating the skills and passion needed to be an authentic therapeutic practitioner.
