AutPlay Therapy. We welcomed Dr Robert Grant to Birmingham, who delivered the intense two-day programme. The energy from delegates was wonderfully inspiring. Feedback included “Excellent content and delivery. Great opportunity to learn more and network. Very inspiring and informative.” “The event was wonderful in terms of knowledge gained. It provided some real ‘light bulb’ moments, and a far more wide-reaching way to look at things, in order to provide the best therapy, fit possible. It will prove very useful.”

Once Upon a Trilogy ®
Three-day course:
Day one: Once Upon an Archetype
Day two: Once Upon a Metaphor
Day three: Once Upon an Anti-Hero
Within this three-day course we explore Archetypal Energy, Metaphor and Anti Heroes and the way they can present within our clients play. Have you ever wondered about the repetitive play of your clients? The same characters being used? The same themes coming up week after week? What processes are happening? How can you become involved? When should you join in or be a silent witness?
This course will enable you to gain a deeper understanding of how Archetypes, metaphor and Anti-heroes become powerful concepts within your client work. When you are the observer of your client play, watching a play narrative unfold this course will help you to consider these concepts to gain a deeper understanding of your client’s process and the transference which arises.

Something to ponder on...
It had been a lovely day.
In fact, it had been the warmest equinox since records began (So say the BBC).
The sun shone, the sky was blue, no clouds in the sky … and this was in Wales!
I found myself walking on the cliffs of south Gower, looking out over Oxwich Bay and Three Cliffs. I was with a friend who I had known for over 50 years, and we were having one of those catch up meets that busy lives and geography make necessary from time to time. We sat on a bench and looked out over the sea, watched the gulls fly, the sun dancing on the waves and chatted. It was one of those perfect moments.
My friend asked me, “What is it about this?” He swept his arm around, encompassing the view, “that brings us such joy?”
A very good question. And I reached for an answer. But even as I reached the answer, I knew I wouldn’t find it.
There is a lot of research about the therapeutic benefits of being outside that I could have talked about. Even when it’s rainy and cold there are still benefits. But why Joy?
For most of human history we have lived outside in nature. We have evolved in the great outdoors. It’s only recently that we have built houses with walls and roofs to cage us, so our genetic memory must call us. But why Joy?
I decided I couldn’t adequately answer the question so rather than try, I just enjoyed the view. I had recently read Matt Haig’s wonderful book Humans and there was a memory of a bit of advice from a father to a son.
“If there is a sunset, stop and look at it. Knowledge is finite. Wonder is infinite.” Matt Haig
Some things can’t be summed up in words. Sometimes we just need to sit back with awe and wonder. Knowledge is all well and good but honestly, the next time you’re out and about just feel the joy!
