About the course
Practitioners frequently encounter clients experiencing acute distress, shock, or destabilisation. While traditional Psychological First Aid frameworks exist, many practitioners report feeling uncertain how to respond relationally — without rescuing, collapsing into over-identification, or working beyond their scope of competence.
This one-day experiential workshop offers something different. It brings together trauma-informed principles, nervous system awareness, heart coherence practices, and creative relational approaches to help practitioners respond to crisis with presence, attunement, and genuine therapeutic confidence.
This course is independently accredited by CPCAB
This training aims to:
- Deepen understanding of the principles of Psychological First Aid and its appropriate use in therapeutic contexts
- Increase practitioner confidence in applying grounding, attunement, and co-regulation practices with people experiencing distress or crisis
- Provide practical and creative tools for responding without rescuing or over-identifying
- Strengthen reflective awareness of ethical boundaries, scope of practice, and referral thresholds
- Support practitioners to reflect on their own emotional and somatic responses when working with crisis material
This is not a lecture. It is a creative, experiential workshop — reflective, relational, and deeply practical.
Learning takes place through:
- Experiential and creative exercises
- Case discussion and small group learning
- Reflective practice and personal action planning
- Somatic and nervous system awareness practices
After the workshop,
After the workshop, participants are invited to complete a creative journal reflection of their learnings and develop a personal integration practice plan — a gentle way of embedding the work into everyday practice.
